The Boston Game:
Games 1 & 2

Skill Drills

Playing hockey and showing off your skills is all fun and games…until the games come with higher stakes. The Boston Game is a series of 6 mini games that each require a high level of various skills in order to complete.

Swaggy P from Elev802 and Kayla Friesen from the Boston Pride go head-to-head to show off their skills and beat the games! To start off, we have games 1&2: Dangle Puck & Shoot Out. Let’s take a closer look at what these games are made of.

GAME 1: DANGLE PUCK

Products:

  • Synthetic Ice Revolution Tiles or Extreme Glide Panels
  • Dangle Puck 2.0 or Extreme Dryland Puck
  • Defenders and/or Speed Deke
  • Skill:

  • Stickhandling
  • Skating
  • Objective: To work on your dangle

  • Step 1: Using your Synthetic Ice Revolution Tiles or Extreme Glide Panels, set up your training area along with defenders and other stickhandling aids.
  • Step 2: Continuously skate around your training area, really focusing on using your edges to get around the obstacles.
  • Step 3: At the same time, use either our Dangle Puck 2.0 or our Dryland puck and start stickhandling around and through all of your training aids. Practice moving the puck to the left, right or back towards you as you approach the defender.
  • TIP: Avoid touching the training aids and try your best to keep your head up throughout the game.
  •

    GAME 2: SHOOT OUT

    Products:

  • Indestructible Goal
  • Synthetic Ice Revolution Tiles or Extreme Glide Panels
  • Dangle Puck 2.0
  • Skill:

  • Shooting
  • Skating
  • Objective: To beat the goalie with a wicked shot

  • Step 1: Set up your Synthetic Ice Revolution Tiles or Extreme Glide Panels along with an Extreme Goal. If you can, get a real goalie in net. If not, a shooter tutor will do!
  • Step 2: Start about 10-20 feet away from the goalie, depending on the size of your training area.
  • Step 3: Start skating towards the goalie, practicing crossovers with your feet and good stickhandles, all while your head is looking at the net.
  • Step 4: Get those hands hot and make your best move on net. Look at open spaces, keep your shots hard and start lighting up the lamp!
